(08.26) 33 year old Guitarist / vocalist Adam "Nergal" Darski of Behemoth has been diagnosed with a life-threatening form of leukemia, a cancer of blood-forming tissues of the bone marrow. The disease, for which Adam is currently receiving treatment at the hematology division of the Gdansk Medical University Hospital, has advanced to the point where he is in urgent need of a bone-marrow transplant. (08.19) For fans of old school death metal, Thrash Corner Records will be re-issuing and re-releasing the first two records from Horror of Horrors Remixed and Remastered for worldwide distribution, both retail and online. The revamped re-issues will include the classic "Sounds of Eerie" CD as well as the "Fangs, Breaking the Skin" CD all in one. This package will be titled "Blood, Fangs & Foulness: The Complete Cursed Chronicles".

(08.14) Universal Music has set an October 13 Japanese release date for the "The Big Four" regular-edition single DVD and "The Big Four" deluxe-edition two-DVD/five-CD package containing footage of the June 22, 2010 Sonisphere cinecast from the Sofia, Bulgaria leg of the touring rock festival featuring the "Big Four" of 1980s thrash metal — Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. The deluxe edition includes an event poster, a poster from each band (four posters total) and guitar pick (subject to change). The box size is 20.5 x 15 x 4cm (subject to change).
(08.12) Daath will release its third, self-titled full-length album on October 26 via Century Media Records.
(08.12) Vader new album, "Return To The Morbid Reich", will be recorded in March / April 2011 at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland and it will be released in August/September 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records.
(08.09) Guitarist / vocalist Adam "Nergal" Darski of Behemoth was rushed to the Gdansk Medical University Hospital in Poland to receive treatment for an undisclosed illness. He released a statement saying that he's in good spirits, and will need several weeks of recovery, so all upcoming shows for the band have been cancelled.

(07.30) Slipknot Drummer Joey Jordison had this to say about making the next album without bassist Paul Gray (who died in May). "There will be no other bass players besides Jim [Root, guitarist], Mick [Thomson, guitarist] and me, more than likely. Everyone actually kind of plays guitar in the band, so I think we're all gonna play bass on the record. We're not gonna have anyone come in. But live, we'll deal with that when it comes." Vocalist Corey Taylor is not as optimistic about the possibility of doing a new record: "It's too soon right now, but we're still talking, all of us are talking and everthing's good but we'll see."

(07.12) Slayer's first home video, "Live Intrusion", which was first released in 1995 on VHS, will finally be issued on DVD this summer. The DVD is currently scheduled to be released in the U.K. on Monday, August 16 and in Germany on Friday, August 27. Filmed on Slayer's "Divine Intervention" tour at the Mesa Amphitheater in Mesa, Arizona, on March 12, 1995, "Live Intrusion" features performances of "Raining Blood", "At Dawn They Sleep" and "Hell Awaits", as well as a cover version of the Venom song "Witching Hour", performed by Slayer with Chris Kontos and Robb Flynn of Machine Head.

(07.01) Ozzy Osbourne's new album "Scream" sold 81,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart. Ozzy's last album, "Black Rain", opened with 152,000 units back in May 2007 to enter the chart at No. 3. That number was in line with the 153,000 first-week tally registered by 2001's "Down to Earth", which debuted at No. 4.

June 2010

(06.30) Deranged have inked a deal with U.S. label Sevared Records. The band is currently working on material for its eighth full-length album. According to the band, half of the CD has already been written and if all goes well, the group will enter the studio this winter.
(06.29) Rob Zombie will head into the studio next week to record several new tracks with his current touring band. Zombie states, "These are some of the fastest, heaviest tracks we have recorded in a long, long time. These songs will available in September."
(06.29) Vader have set "Return To The Morbid Reich" as the tentative title of their next studio album. According to guitarist/vocalist Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek, the CD will be recorded in March/April 2011 at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland and it will be released in August/September 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records. In other news, Vader will celebrate the 15th anniversary of its classic second album, "De Profundis", by performing the LP in its entirety on the band's tour of Poland in August.

(06.26) Shadows Fall will release a new concert DVD, "Madness In Manila: Shadows Fall Live In The Philippines 2009", on August 24 via Everblack Industries/Ferret Music. The disc will include footage that was shot on April 30, 2009 at the Pulp Summer Slam in Manila, Philippines.
(06.25) Morbid Angel entered Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida on June 22nd with engineer Erik Rutan to begin recording their ninth full-length album.
(06.24) The final night of Megadeth's "Rust In Peace" 20th anniversary tour has been captured for the upcoming "Rust In Peace Live" Blu-ray, DVD and CD, due out September 7 on Shout! Factory. "Rust In Peace Live" features the entire "Rust In Peace" album performed live, as well as some bonus songs like 'Symphony For Destruction', 'Peace Sells' and 'Skin O' My Teeth'.

(06.22) Hackneyed have parted ways with bassist Alex Büttner and have replaced him with "a longtime friend of the band" named Tini. Commented the group: "After several weeks of being torn between his new job and the band, [Alex] took the decision to leave the band."
(06.17) "A New Era Of Corruption", the third album from Whitechapel, sold around 10,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 43 on The Billboard 200 chart. Their last album, "This Is Exile", opened with 5,900 copies in July 2008 to land at No. 117.

(05.26) An autopsy of Slipknot bass player Paul Gray has revealed no cause of death. It could be four to six weeks before all of the test results are complete and the cause of death can be determined, according to police. The autopsy reportedly did confirm that there was no evidence of foul play or trauma, and that Gray had been dead for several hours before his body was discovered.
(05.25) Slipknot bassist Paul Dedrick Gray was found dead yesterday in an Iowa hotel. No word yet on cause of death. Our condolences go out to the band and his family.
(05.23) Psycroptic are hard at work on material for a new album. They will start the demo process soon, and hope to have everything ready by their tour with Nile coming up in October.
(05.23) Vocalist Ari Nieminen has rejoined Dauntless, replacing his own replacement, Micko. He says in a statement, "When I decided to leave Dauntless, I thought it was the best decision at the moment. But when I had time to think it over, I felt like, Oh fuck, this was totally wrong thing to do.' I told guys about it and they asked me to come back, because there were some disagreements with Micko. The break I had was a best thing for me and thus I realized that this is what I want and these are the guys I wanna rock with — forever! Sometimes you just have to take some time off to really know what you really want. So the rest is history... but for all you fans out there, I'm so fucking proud and excited about this and I really, really hope that this will be pleasant thing for you and all the people who still keep up hanging with us."

(05.18) We are sad to report on the passing of Ronnie James Dio, vocalist for bands such as Rainbow, Black Sabbath and his own band, Dio. He died at age 67 from stomach cancer.

(05.12) Aborted have started writing some new material and will be focusing on writing for the rest of the year. Recordings are set for a full-length early next year.

(05.11) Yet again, John Bush has left Anthrax, and the band has replaced him with vocalist Joey Belladonna. He will do the vocal duties for the upcoming tour, and the band will also re-record much of their unreleased "Worship Music" album, including all the vocals with Belladonna.
(05.10) Hate will enter Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland on June 5 to begin recording their new album, "Erebos", for a late 2010 release via Listenable Records.

(03.19) An official word about Morbid Angel Drummer Pete Sandoval's back surgery: "Pete has suffered for a long time with a deteriorating disc problem. He was in daily pain and needed to have this done. He has recently been treated by a laser back surgery specialist in Tampa, Florida. He is currently in rehabilitation and doing well. Pete is part of our family and the band's history and we all wish him well and a full recovery. Unfortunately, this type of injury, subsequent surgery and rehab cannot be rushed and it will take ample time for him to hopefully be back behind his drums again and out on tour with Morbid Angel. The band is moving forward on their next recording with Tim Yeung (Divine Heresy, All That Remains, Nile, Hate Eternal, Vital Remains). Currently the guys are in rehearsals in Tampa putting their finishing touches on the songs for the new album, which is slated for later this year, with subsequent touring worldwide." (03.11) Suffocate Bastard guitarist and driver Patrick Czerny has left the band. He needed more time to take care of his family and was very involved in his day job. Therefore he could not spare the time required for the band anymore. He has been replaced with Othon Kokkinos (Depravity). The band is now back on track to finish writing the songs for the new album.
(03.11) Sinister will enter Soundlodge studios in Rhauderfehn, Germany with producer Jörg Uken (God Dethroned, Obscenity) on October 15 to begin recording their new album, tentatively titled "Legacy of Ashes". An early 2011 release is expected via Massacre Records.

The band's previous CD, "Transgression", opened with 19,000 units back in August 2005 to land at No. 45. This was substantially less than the first-week number registered by its predecessor, "Archetype", which sold 32,000 copies back in April 2004 to enter the Billboard chart at No. 30.
